We all dream of having healthy, smooth, and glowing skin. The skin is after all the largest organ of your body. If it gets damaged, old, and worn out, this ‘suit’ cannot be removed and exchanged for another. Your skin protects you from the elements. It is waterproof, regulates your body’s temperature and gives you the ability to feel touch, cold and heat. It is like a magical coat of ‘armour’!
In a purely aesthetic sense, the skin is what you present to the world. If it is blemished with acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, or any other affliction, it could affect your social confidence. It may impair your ability to interact with the world at work or at school. As a former sufferer of both acne and psoriasis, I know from experience that the impact of a skin malaise must not be disregarded and can be quite crippling.
Skin and health
As you know, there are a plethora of remedies for skin problems and most of them are pharmacological. Topical creams, washes, lotions and gels, hormonal treatments, prescription drugs, etc. Unfortunately, many of these have quite dramatic and unpleasant side effects. Whilst they may do the job, it often comes at a cost, like thinning skin, or even liver damage.
Many different variables influence the health of your skin. It may take decades for you to figure out exactly what is triggering its unwanted responses. What I have learned through trial end error, is that what you put in your mouth has a massive effect on all your organs – including the skin. Dairy, gluten, sugar, alcohol, and certain vegetables like the nightshades (potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and aubergine) being the biggest culprits.
Moringa and your skin
Fortunately, I found one plant that may be an answer to prayers for many spotty and patchy-skinned people: Moringa. To be more specific, Moringa Oleifera, also known as the Miracle Tree – for a reason.
Moringa is the most nutrient-dense plant in the world. Many of those lovely nutrients are extremely beneficial for promoting healthy skin. It Is remarkably high in the skin-friendly vitamins A, B, C, and E, as well as the essential mineral, Zinc. Moringa reduces inflammation in the skin and helps to regulate hormones that might cause acne flare-ups.
It is exceptionally rich in antioxidants (15 times higher than goji berries), which ease the biological stressors of pollution, stress and diet that may cause all sorts of breakouts. Moringa is also antibacterial and antimicrobial. This means that it combats the spread of infection that may already exist and speeds up the healing process.
Ageing is the one factor that no skin can escape. Regular supplementation with moringa will slow down this inevitable process. It may even turn back the clock a bit by promoting the forming of collagen and thus elasticity in the skin. Studies show that moringa also increases the body’s ability to absorb and use collagen, if it is taken orally. Wrinkles will become less noticeable, the skin smoother and plumper, and skin tone more even.
Best of all: Moringa has no side effects. It is a natural, organic, and bio-available supplement. People in the know have used it for more than 2 000 years… and it is affordable. Try it for a month or two – you may never look back!
