What is so Special about Moringa Juice Extract?
You have probably heard of the numerous health benefits of Moringa leaves – the green superfood that is taking the world by storm. It has been used for aeons to treat more than 300 different ailments ranging from acne and arthritis to cancer, cholesterol, dandruff, and diabetes.
Moringa leaf powder and Moringa capsules are readily available in health shops and pharmacies these days, but the juice extract is more expensive and harder to come by.
We are often asked whether one should rather use Moringa extract or powder? The answer to this question is simple:
It is better to use an extract-based supplement, as it contains more of the key compounds needed to give the required result compared to the powdered supplements (and therefore of course the capsules too).
Plant extracts are concentrates of bioactive phytochemicals obtained through modern extraction technologies. The purpose of the extraction is to get the largest possible amount of the active ingredients from plants. With the help of solvents like organic ethanol (alcohol), soluble plant components are separated from the insoluble cellular remains.
Using alcohol during extraction typically yields more nutrients from plants. Alcohol, especially ethanol, is commonly used as a solvent in various extraction methods, such as homeopathic tinctures and herbal extracts like Moringa Leaf Juice.
Here are a few reasons why using alcohol improves nutrient extraction:
- Solubility: Alcohol is an effective solvent for many water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds. It can dissolve a broad spectrum of plant components, including alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, terpenoids, and glycosides. By using alcohol as a solvent, a broader range of nutrients can be extracted than by using water.
- Increased bioavailability: Alcohol can enhance the bioavailability of certain plant nutrients. Some bioactive ingredients may be locked within the plant’s structure and require a solvent like alcohol to break down the cell walls and release the nutrients. This leads to more effective extraction and an increased nutrient yield.
- Alcohol extraction can be performed at lower temperatures, minimizing the risk of nutrient loss. The health benefits of Moringa leaves are legionary and legendary. They are simply jam-packed with essential nutrients, including vitamins (A, C, and E), minerals (calcium, iron, and potassium), and various antioxidants. Unfortunately, many of these precious nutrients are lost during the drying of the leaves. The good news is that Moringa juice contains seven times more Vitamin C than the powder or capsule due to the cold-press process using alcohol.
- Lastly, and in addition to all the above listed benefits of using alcohol during the Moringa juice extraction, it also gives the product a longer shelf life and preserves the precious nutrients in the juice from losing its potency.
Digest this…
It is interesting to note that nutrients in Moringa juice are absorbed faster, than those in powder or capsules. The reason is that the juice is absorbed through the walls in the duodenum (small intestines), instead of having to go through the entire digestive process to the colon like the powder does. Customers often report that they notice faster results when using Moringa Leaf Juice Extract than with the powder and capsules.
Easy to swallow
Furthermore, Moringa Juice Extract provides a very convenient way to access this treasure trove of nutrients to support overall health, as well as treating serious concerns like hypertension and diabetes. 20ml of Moringa juice is all you need per day, and it is much easier to drink than the powder – as many will attest to!
Finally, cold-pressing Moringa juice from the fresh leaves is, of course, a much more costly process than simply drying it, and this reflects in the price. However, when one considers the benefits of drinking the extract rather than the powder, it is worth trying it at least once!
